Kyle Quincey, former NHL player and founder of the Team Ax Foundation, was forever changed when his son, Axl Quincey, was diagnosed with an ependymoma brain tumor at just 11 months old. Axl’s tumor was not inherited but developed by chance from a single ependymal cell overproducing.
What began as a way for friends, family, and the community to rally around Axl evolved into something much greater. In July 2020, Kyle established the Team Ax Foundation to raise awareness and increase funding for pediatric cancer research.
Pediatric cancer remains severely underfunded, with many treatment options relying on outdated adult therapies from the 1960s. The reality is that cancer can affect any child, at any time, anywhere.
Axl is one of many brave young warriors fighting for a chance at life. Through the Team Ax Foundation, Kyle is committed to making a difference by advocating for better research, improved treatments, and ultimately, a cure for pediatric cancer.
Join the fight to raise awareness and funding to help change the future of pediatric cancer care.
